Escape Fire – An Award Winning Documentary About What’s Wrong With Healthcare

Campus President Dr. Edward Lamadrid

During the weekend, I had the pleasure of attending a free screening of the movie, Escape Fire, at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine here in Chicago. This film takes a powerful look at our current healthcare system which is more expensive than most others and yet we do not get as good results as many other countries. Escape Fire also examines alternative treatments like acupuncture and shows how beneficial they are. If you are interested in the plight of our healthcare system, this is a movie you should see. ESCAPE FIRE examines the powerful forces maintaining the status quo, a medical industry designed for quick fixes rather than prevention, for profit-driven care rather than patient-driven care. After decades of resistance, a movement to bring innovative high-touch, low-cost methods of prevention and healing into our high-tech, costly system is finally gaining ground. This film follows dramatic human stories as well as leaders fighting to transform healthcare at the highest levels of medicine, industry, government, and even the US military. ESCAPE FIRE is about finding a way out. It’s about saving the health of a nation.

If you are in Chicago, the Pacific College will be hosting another free screening in April. Be sure to check it out!
