New Research Demonstrates Acupuncture Can Effectively Lower Blood Pressure

Ever thought that being stuck by a needle would make your blood pressure go down? If they’re acupuncture needles placed appropriately they sure can!

High blood pressure is a common problem and very frightening for those people suffering from the condition. They often wind up on medications, these medications  often have side effects, some serious.

For many acupuncture can lower blood pressure with almost no side effects.

Recently, a U.S. study, conducted at the Susan-Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of California, found:

“The results revealed that acupuncture can significantly lower blood pressure in individuals with mild to moderate high blood pressure. It took about a month before there was significant reduction in blood pressure, but the reductions in blood pressure persisted after the acupuncture sessions were completed.

“About 70 percent of people with high blood pressure will respond well to acupuncture. It is a safe and simple procedure that may help to reduce the need for medications.”

  1. Hearing about the great effects of acupuncture is very exciting. It does not seem to be very common in the United states but I work with a Doctor who uses it from time to time. The patients she’s sees swear by the treatment and say it is the only thing that helps them. I think this shows that there could be many lesser known treatment methods that actually aid in improving many conditions.

Hi Ashley, thanks for your comment, which state do you live in? I find acupuncture is not uncommon in several states but that is not true of all. Hopefully in the future it will become more widely accepted as a viable treatment option.
