Tcm007, the super girl from my book, Adventures in Chinese Medicine, traveled to Italy to see the sights of Pompeii recently. I visited Italy a couple of years ago and Pompeii is one of the most amazing places I have ever seen! Pompeii was a city near Naples. In 79 A.D., Mount Vesuvius, a volcano near the Bay of Naples, dramatically erupted killing 2000 people and burying the city of Pompeii and Herculaneum in volcanic ash for thousands of years. In 1748, the city was rediscovered by a group excavating the area. Even more surprising, they found that many of the buildings, skeletons and artifacts were intact. Excavation at Pompeii continues to this day and this frozen city has been a wealth of ancient artifacts and information about how life was thousands of years ago.
