Chicago Bulls: Home-Court Advantage Now in Hand – Acupuncture!

Chicago Bulls player Joakim Noah is plagued by the painful condition of plantar fasciitis and, among other treatments, he is receiving acupuncture.  Plantar fasciitis is often a chronic problem caused by an inflammation of the layer of tissue that supports the arch of the foot.

The Chicago Tribune article said, “Noah spent the Bulls’ day off Tuesday doing what he does for his injury, which has included ice, electrical stimulation, massages, acupuncture, platelet-rich plasma injections, cortisone shots and incense-fueled seances.”

I’ve noticed that athletes, whose well-being is their livelihood, are very open to ‘alternative’ treatments (I am NOT referring to steroids!) and seek acupuncture to help their healing as well as for maintenance. Cupping is another Chinese medicine treatment that they use. Hey, if it is good enough for the gazillion dollar players, maybe you ought to think about it.
