CNN Health and The Atlantic both picked up a big, new study done at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and published in the Archives of Internal Medicine that reports acupuncture’s effectiveness. In a meta-analysis of 18,000 patients from 29 studies, acupuncture was found to be successful in relieving back and neck pain, osteoarthritis, chronic headache, and shoulder pain.
The reason that this study is getting press is because 1) it is big, 2) it reviews randomized, controlled studies, and 3) reports are consistently good. For example, on a pain rating of 60 on a 100-point scale, follow-up scores decreased by half for those who received acupuncture. This translates into a 50 percent reduction in pain for the acupuncture patients – I’d take that !!!

That's huge! I love to hear that! I have been receiving acupuncture for quite some time now and have been a huge advocate for it and try to convince others in pain to try it. Im hoping this starts to become more acceptable by traditional doctors as these studies start to show this improvement.
Hi Sarah thanks so much for your enthusiastic response. I'm glad you are having such a good experience with your treatment. I think acupuncture can only gain in popularity.
