Wow, this article in the Huffington Post is exciting. I have read about acupuncture for a limping elephant, giraffes, horses, pythons and sea lions. Now I can add tigers to that list! In Israel, vets have used acupuncture on a 14-year-old Sumatran tiger named Pedang. The poor kitty has suffered from chronic ear infections and other medicines have not helped. Not surprisingly, the tiger was sedated during the process; somehow the soothing music probably wasn’t enough. Vets have been using acupuncture on animals here in the States and abroad for awhile, but this is the first time I’ve read about needling a tiger. If you would like to read more and see photos of Pedang getting needled click here.
