Adventures in Chinese Medicine!

I am excited to announce that my book, Adventures in Chinese Medicine; Acupuncture, Herbs and Ancients Ideas for Today will be available soon. I’ve been working on it for over a year and I am thrilled with the result.  My goal was to create a fun, friendly, accessible book that communicates essential ideas and information about Traditional Chinese Medicine, and I have done it –  including an original cartoon super girl as the guide!  I wanted to take the knowledge from my four years of graduate school and more than ten years of practice, and make the information available to others. Many of the books about Chinese Medicine are dense and hard to read. I’ve worked hard to translate sophisticated concepts and ancient wisdom into a language everyone will understand and enjoy reading.

I have several audiences in mind: potential patients who are thinking of trying TCM; students of Chinese Medicine; other practitioners who want to have friendly explanations for their patients; and people who have enjoyed the benefits of TCM and want to learn more. The book covers topics such as yin and yang, Qi, acupuncture, herbal medicine, tui na, cupping, moxabustion and more. I also explain pattern diagnosis which is unique to Chinese Medicine. I’ve included stories from patients, other acupuncturists and one absolutely fascinating account written by a friend whose father was one of the first Chinese acupuncturists in the U.S.  I even described a first visit so soon-to-be patients will know what to expect.

Adventures in Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture, Herbs and Ancients Ideas for Today will be out in paperback and as an e-book. I hope that you will all buy copies for yourselves and your friends. Chinese Medicine has given me an entirely new way to look at health and wellness and I know that many of you feel the same. I believe this book will bring that message to more people who are searching for holistic ways to stay healthy. In the weeks to come, I will post some excerpts from the book on my blog Acupuncture Blog Chicago, so please visit again soon.
